Kensie Cares | Recipients Cindy Braziel and Awesome On The Spectrum, Inc.

We proudly congratulate Cindy Braziel, named 2018’s Q1 Kensie Cares honoree! Cindy’s passion for collaboration, community, and finding creative solutions extends well beyond just helping our clients. As a constant contributor and active participant in the Encompass Basecamp community even prior to joining KensieMae, and from day one since joining the team, Cindy has been a driving force of idea sharing and teamsmanship! These qualities extend to her community involvement outside of the industry just the same, as she regularly dedicates herself to bringing awareness and support to causes and charities close to her heart. Once again, another team member who exemplifies the character, drive, effort, and awesomeness KensieMae prides ourselves on, and well deserving of our Kensie Cares recognition!  Kudos, Cindy!

For her charity, Cindy chose Awesome on the Spectrum, Inc. to receive her $1000.00 donation. Read about the many reasons why this non-profit organization is so exemplary in her own words below.

Access to services for Asperger’s Syndrome children typically goes away when the child reaches 10 years of age. I found Awesome on the Spectrum after my son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at age 12, and I was unable to locate any resources for guidance, assistance, or services for him. Darla Hill, the Founder of Awesome on the Spectrum experienced a similar situation when her son was diagnosed at age 10, and quickly understood that the window of opportunity for any help had already closed.

Darla realized that if she was struggling to find support and assistance for her son, that it was likely that other families were in the same situation, and Awesome on the Spectrum was born!  In its early days, it was just a small group of families who would get together one night a week and let their children socialize with other kids like them, and parents who could support each other through the difficult moments and laugh at the funny moments. Since then, Awesome on the Spectrum has grown substantially and is reaching more and more children, and providing additional services, education, and guidance for both the children and their families.
Darla’s love and dedication to her son as well as her passion for helping others has been the fuel for Awesome on the Spectrum.  Her giving heart is magnetic and she is as selfless as they come!  I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving to receive this gift than Darla and the Awesome on the Spectrum family!  My son and family, as well as many other children and families, have been directly impacted by Darla’s determination to create a place where they can feel welcomed, accepted, educated, guided and supported.
